Mount Princeton 6/29. Was supposed to meet the guys Monday night to camp at the radio towers, but the storm of the century was busy up there. So once I got to BV, I called Ben, and he said that he was trapped in his car for and hour and a half at the campsite because of the storm. I wanted to get up there before it was dark so off I went. But it was pretty much night time and driving Mount Princeton road at night with lightning going off around you is no bargain. I did not breath once until I saw the boys at the campsite. Once there, the lightning let up (mostly) and we set up camp. The morning brought perfect weather with not a cloud in the sky. It did get a little warm, but the breeze was cool. Ahhh...Colorado. The hike went well, but we were surprised at the amount of boulders to traverse. Once the trail appeared, it went straight up with no switchbacks(gasp). Of course the sightseeing was great up there with views of the valley and other 14ers around, but the trail was kind of unimpressive. Lots of rocks and boulders to hop around on and that is about it. We left at 6am and summited at 9. Did not see a soul on the way up and tramped through some fresh snow from the storm the night before. We did, however, see a bunch of folks on the way up when we were going down. Some even were just getting started when we finished. Probably not smart considering what went on the afternoon and night before.
