 Quick TR from Belford/Oxford

Weather cancelled plans for a weekend in the San Juans. Managed to get in Belford/Oxford on Sunday. Started shortly after 5:00 am Sunday morning in light rain that changed to wet snow shortly before treeline. Above treeline the solid cloud cover started to break up and views got better and better as the day went on.

Snow got deeper as we went higher (4-8" of fresh snow) and the winds really picked up as well. Microspikes were carried, but never taken out of the pack.

Walked across the summit of Belford at 9:00 am and headed straight for Oxford. Clouds moved in and out, graupel fell and winds were strong.

Reached the top of Oxford at 10:00 am, only stayed for a couple of minutes (the wind was still strong) and headed back to Belford.

Climbing the ridge back up Belford, the winds started to calm a bit and the clouds cleared out quite a bit to give us spectacular views.

Back on Belford at 11:00 am. It was calm and we were able to stop for a bit on the top.

Easy walk out, temps warming up as we got lower and it felt like summer again.
