 Memorial Day Moonlight trip

Two friends and I decided we wanted to climb Sherman today. We drove up last night and were gonna camp out and get an early start, but when we noticed how bright the moon was we quickly started getting bad ideas. Next thing you know we arrive at the trailhead at 2 am and had decided to go for a night climb of Sherman. It was pretty cold out, I believe 25 degrees when we started. We seemed to have plenty of layers for the most part even though we were missing one pair of gloves. But on we went. We managed to summit Sherman at around 4:10 am to a nice and cold 20 degrees and probably about 40 MPH winds. It was freezing and we didn't last too long at the summit. We made our way back down and were back at the car by 5:30. Overall it was one of the most amazing 14er trips so far and definitely the coldest. We had no idea where the trail was but we managed to find our way up and down without any special gear. The summit is completely free of snow but we did cross some pretty big snow patches. The fact that it was so cold probably made the trip easier than during the day without having to worry about sinking into the snow. Amazing trip, will never forget!
