wrong turn , rough ride on handies

I am still typing up a decade of reports, the most recent ascents will come soon. hang in there. peak 2 of 3 on our four day excursion. After humboldt it was up to creed and over. After catchin nothing in lake san cristobal it was up the pass. Once again the mini-van(aka space shuttle voyager) was along side jeepers and four wheelers creepin up a rough road. we set up camp in the rain in american basin. The full moon made for a pristine evening. cold sleep. in the morning it was up the basin tword sloan lake. almost to the lake our partner travel headed up twords a faint trail. Sam and I continued up the valley. all the way to the end of the basin above the lake. this was not the right way. a jagged spine of rock lay between us and the SW ridge of handies. the spirit of the mountain goat was with us. this tricky rock climbing was undertaken with boards on back. no stopping snowboarders. we made this exciting climb with ease. made it to the summit a little after the traveler. windy and stormy. the stay was short. a few hundred yards to the north we found our snow field to the valley below. the snow was dirty and lumpy. tough stuff. fun ridin for the strong of heart. off to cottonwood pass and the next peak.

By this logic Dawson‘s guides must also be irrevelant and therefore worthless. What a moron. Nice pics, like the moon shot. Good report.
