the first of three fouteener descents in four days. the rest will wait till later. We (travel, sam, myself) left georgetown over guenella in the 94 plymouth mini van and travels big jeep. across south park over the arkansas to westcliffe. on the approach we could see storms were covering most of the range. good picture. we took the minivan up several miles past the parking lot until suitable camp was found. tuff going for the van, but shes tuff. we set off up the southcolony road in the big jeep. some other four wheelers had stopped where the snow was covering the road. With a little work we got the big jeep through all the way to the end. first ones. we spotted a line down the SE face. snow from summit to below treeline. Went back to camp and set up in the rain. early off, into the jeep to near the bottom of our coulior. It was bushwacking for a little bit until snow, then it was boot packing. a beautiful waterfall was found, once to treeline the view was cloudy. It was a staircase when snow permitted other wise it was talus hopping. the views through the clouds of marble mountain were breathtaking, litterly. on top before noon in cloud. the clouds broke long enough to get some awsome photos. short stay on top. strapped on boards near summit and headed down. best run of the week. smooth snow for a long ride. back below tree line it was raining again. great run, good snow. a day to remember. pack up and on to handies.
