Summitted Democrat and Cameron (should count if done by itself) on Saturday from the Kite Lake Trlhd. Day started out beautifully with temps in the 30s and then warmed up. Walked up to Democrat, some dude was up there taking panoramic pictures from the summit. Temps warmed up, winds were not terrible. Climbed down and went up Cameron, this is when it changed. Route is well marked (follow trail and cairns). Towards the top there is some snow, trail is pretty much clear still, some slick spots. Winds were picking up as the storms built to the Norht and West. Updrafts dropped the temps into the low 40s, upper 30s. We were going to do all 4 peaks, but the storms were too threatening, so we did the big boy thing and descended (hard decision). Lincoln still looks clear of snow. Broos North slope is snow covered, unsure of N trail condition. Peak also looked snow covered but not unmanageble.

Recommendations - if you want to bag all four start with Broos, Lincoln, Cameron and then Democrat. Its more efficient. At a minimum you can get 3, the other way you may only get 1 or 2. Great views of other peaks and ranges. Easy climbs.

Four 14er Sat
09/20/2009 22:43

My daughter and I did all four on Sat. This was her 2-5th 14ers) Started at 7am. Cold at the top of Dem, but nice after that. Lincoln has a slick (packed snow/ice) section on the final ascent. Snow manageable on all peaks. The descent from Bross had ~4in on the top section of the ridge and the usual loose gravel after that. Someone flew a kite on Bross. Back to the packing lot by 2pm. Spent time on all peaks (well not Cameron - boring).
