Mount of the Holy Cross Standard Route

I climbed Mt. of the Holy Cross with friend Mike. We left Eagle, Colorado at about 0430. We arrived at the trailhead at about 0530. The trail was good and route finding was straight forward. There was some snow on the top. Some good class 2 scrambling towards the top. We summited at about 0900. We met a guy from Arizona on the top. He had climbed 47 of the 14ers.

This was Mike‘s first 14er and I think he really enjoyed it. This was my 8th Colorado 14er and 9th overall. On the hike back I did a few fun glissades down some snow fields. The 900 foot climb back over the pass was not as bad as the guide books report...but I think the summer living in Colorado is definately helping out my fitness.

The whole climb took about 8.5 hours. Great weather the whole day. Great day...beautiful mountain!
