Democrat et al: COLD and Windy Saturday

Arrived at Kite Lake around 6 pm Friday night. The temperature was starting to drop as I set up camp.

Some nice sunset photos of Cameron and Bross from across Kite.

The camp.

The parking lot which would be jammed the next day. (All showed only to get frozen above 13k.)

I woke up to a splitting altitude headache and nature's theater at its best. See below:

Then for the frozen ascent...just look at that frozen mug! Blueberry teeth to boot.

Underdressed for the entire thing. It was extremely windy and cold: 30-40 mph winds, 25-40 degrees F windchill. And I am probably underestimating.

All on August 1, 2009. About a four hour loop for four summits. My arms didn't come back to life until the extremely hot shower in Breckenridge.

Yeah I was up on Bross at about 8:30 on 08/01 and experienced the same conditions, I‘d have to say the wind chill was about 20 degrees.

It seems that these mountains have had an unnaturally exceptional snow year. LOTS of snow. And more snow in July I guess now. Man!
