Stormed off El Diente West Ridge

On Saturday, July 25th, we attempted the West Ridge of El Diente from the Navajo Lake trailhead. There is good car camping nearby. We got a late start and were stormed off the ridge around noon.

The ridge is quite beautiful and worth the hike.

Thunder in the area and a bit of rain and hail persuaded us to save the finish for another day. This is a good look at difficulties presented.

To get out of the weather, and to make the hike more interesting, we bailed off the ridge to the south at about the 1/2 way point into Kilpacker Basin. It was fun to make a circuit around the ridge, but I wouldn't recommend it except to get away from an electrical storm.

I hope to publish part two, when we finish the climb, soon.
