A 12 year olds (Jack) ascent on Mt Belford

The morning was brisk but the skies were clear. We started our ascent around 6:30 am. The scenery was amazing and the walk was going to be difficult. A true physical and mental challenge for 12 year old named Jack.

The Wick Clan! The trail winds through the trees and foliage. You are in constant earshot of the rushing water.

A "Photo Opportunity" and a good spot to take a rest.
As we proceed up the steep incline we finally made it past tree line only to see the daunting challenge that stood before us.
The pictures tell the story!
After a rest stop for fuel (PBJ and Gummy Bears), Jack led the final assault to the top of the mountain.
A 12 year old with a story for a lifetime!
A proud Dad and son!
A well deserved rest on the way home.

This is something to cherish. Remember that most of the people you meet will have never been to 14,000 feet let along using their own legs. Now the big question....How did Belford get its name?

Congrats Jack!
