 Yale-Denny Creek

My friend, Nan, and I decided to hike Mt. Yale today. We left our Littleton, CO homes around 3:30am and were on the trail by 6:00am.

It was a perfect day on Yale. The wind hardly ever blew and the skies stayed uneventful while we hiked. The rain started about 800 feet before we hit the parking lot, but there was no thunder and the rain was not heavy.

The views of Princeton and other peaks were beautiful. Image

We went at a moderate, enjoyable pace and finished in 6 1/2 hours, not including the time we spent on the summit. Image

1. Stay to the right ("righty-tighty") and stay kinda on the right-lower side when you hit the final scrambling pitch to the summit. There IS a trail that pieces together through the rocks. We ditched our ski poles when we started the scrambling.

2. I thought about bringing my dog but am happy I did not, as I would have had a lot of concern for my dog making it through the scrambling portion safely. Image
