Mt. Sherman Southwest Ridge from Fourmile Creek - great 1st of the season climb.

We started out nice an early before the sun hit the 12,000' fence where a lot of people started to park.

Me ready for a nice cold day

A beautiful view of the mine shaft from the small lake and nothing beyond that because of cloud cover

A quickly melting snow wall that was necessary to climb through as the regular route was still not visible

The five of us at the summit with some obvious cloud cover. It was EXTREMELY COLD and windy from basically the saddle to the summit. There were people with no gloves and a few with shorts on and I think they were a few screws short upstairs if you get what I mean. It was 35 at the warmest but with the wind and exposure is was extremely cold. With all our gear on my hands were still numb.

Today was Miss Casidy‘s first 14er and summit! This is her taking in the amazing views as some of the cloud cover borke.

A view from the ridge heading back down and folks off in the distance getting ready to glissade down the parts they could as the snow is starting to melt.

My awesome trip glissading down!

My husband's GPS said he hit 10mph on his butt!

Saturday was a great day. There were a lot of people headed up on our way down. The later in the morning it got, the warmer it was. It was still VERY windy at the summit. The melt off didn't cause any problems and the glissading was a special treat to say the least! A great first of the season climb!

Congrats all on the summit!
It was cold and windy and quite socked in (cloudy) early. I needed hand warmers!! (so it wasn‘t me in the shorts or bikini )
It was kind of a "mystery" hike until it cleared on our descent.
Added Sheridan, too.
Turned into a gorgeous day.
