 RR Couliors

Fantastic Father's day hike and ride on Pikes RR Couliors. I parked my car at mile marker 18 around 8am. Gates only opened at 7:30 and I took my time driving up and taking pictures. To warm up, I hiked my way to the peak. There was already a trail mapped out by previous hikers. It took maybe 45 mins to reach the summit. There I met my new friend Dave who was considering the Y couliors. A few skiers had already made the plunge into the Y. After some thought, we looked at the RR and decided there was better snow and no one else around. The start of the descent was icy but through the middle it was pure bliss. The very end of the ride was slushy as expected. The climb out took 4 hours in knee deep snow, postholing almost every step. Crampons were usless as the snow was too soft. We never ran into anyone else on this route. Great to meet you Dave. Let‘s do it again!
