 Belford/Oxford - Standard

Sunday 5/2/09

Objective - Belford and Oxford
Start time - 5ish am
Finish 3:15

I decided to challenge the weather forecasts (predicting snow/rain for the day) and make an attempt at theses two peaks.

I used snowshoes for a little while once I got above treeline in the morning but they were not really necessary as the snow was solid.

Approach = very straight forward - follow the trail up Missouri Gulch to Belford's shoulder and then ascend. On the summit follow the ridge over to Oxford. The ridge to Oxford was windy but manageable. On the return the snow was very wet - a lot of postholing - the snowshoes did manage to add some value.

Pic 3 = approaching Belford's Summit

Pic 4 = A look at Missouri

Pic 5 = The windy ridge to Oxford (although Harvard is in the backdrop of this pic)

I climbed Belford this time last year and it looks like way less snow this year! Keep up the great effort.
