Imagine NO CARS on a Saturday at the Grays trailhead parking!!

Although Grays and Torreys are some of the busiest peaks throughout the summer (there can be around 200 cars parked in the area on any Saturday afternoon, here are some pix from a summertime climb: ) things quiet down considerably during the winter. Imagine a Saturday afternoon with NO CARS and NO PEOPLE at the Grays trailhead parking! Here's the video to prove it:

Okay, although I skied up from Bakerville I didn't get close to the summit. Nevertheless the ride back down was great! I plan to summit next weekend so give me a call if you're interested!

On a Sunday in July I was the first one up leaving at around 2 am or something - tons of solitude, all alone (on Gray‘s!). But then on the way down I crossed paths with hundreds. What a difference a few hours can make! Your pics make the area look so different from the warm sunny morning I remember as I left.

I have climbed grays twice. Once in November and once in April, both times I started way before sun up. It is much more peaceful. Were you able to drive up from Bakersville at all? Or did you have to park near the interstate?

Regardless conditions, I usually park at Bakersville to ensure full elevation gain and a complete workout when I‘m doing Grays and Torreys - it only adds about 1.5 hours to the entire day...
