 Quandary to Treeline

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I didn't feel like taking my camera out for the short climb today.

My friend and I drove up to Quandary today and hiked up to near treeline. The storm that hit the mountains today did a decent job of missing at least the lower half of the mountain. It dumped for about an hour this morning and then abruptly stopped. In fact, I hiked in sun for quite a while today.

Anyhow, following my first attempt at getting up the road and experiencing numerous gear "failures" (pair of gloves that wouldn't work, leaky camel back, overheating... etc), I headed back to the car to warm up while my friend continued. I met up with him about 45 minutes later. The snow was decently packed up to where we turned around, though we had the task of packing in the trace amounts new snow. It was practically windless. We turned around near where Photo #9 was taken on the route description. Past there, the snow didn't appear to be packed quite as well.

Snowshoes were not necessary for me, though they would definitely be helpful, just like everyone has said. If nothing else, the traction they provide is useful.
