Quick Loop - Democrat, Lincoln, Bross

This report is a bit late. Sorry. I drove down from Steamboat Springs on Saturday Morning early. Reached Kite Lake Trailhead by 8:45 and was hiking by nine. The road up to kite lake was in perfect condition. No snow at all. A late start yet the loop is only 7.5 miles long. I quickly hiked up Mt. democrat. There was almost no snow on the trails. Met a solo climber after the saddle between Cameron and Democrat, and then met a group of climbers. All were going for all four 14ers that day.

Made it to the top of Democrat from Kite lake by 10:00, 1 hour. I snapped a couple quick photos, checked out the skiing options on the north side for future ski tours, and started back down to the Democrat/Cameron Saddle.

On Top of Democrat

I made it up to Cameron quickly, and proceeded right away to Lincoln.

Top of Lincoln-Very windy

Not spending much time on the top of Lincoln because of the cold wind, I started to make my way toward Bross. Made it to Bross quickly. The wind between Lincoln and Bross was horrible. Almost blowing me over. There was signs saying that the trails were closed to Bross because of private mining land. I proceeded anyways.

Again, only spending seconds on top of Bross, I started to make my way down to Kite lake to complete the 7 mile loop.

I made it down to the car by 12:30. 3 1/2 hours of hiking. Great trip. I did not follow the 3,000 foot rule but I did gain 3,000 feet for lincoln so I am counting it. It was a fun area. I am excited to explore more 14ers in that range!

You passed me that day like I was standing still (coming from North Carolina the day before, I was standing still a lot!). There‘s not many folks in your fitness level where I come from. Nice pics. Best, North Carolina Paul
