 A Massive post-Turkey(Chicken?) day Trot

Interesting outing, from the Massive TH, having camped overnight (not my most outstanding idea) left the TH at 7:30am(late) after an aborted attempted to cook a hot breakfast using Sterno, which sucks at 10k ft and 21F. Luke warm coffee etc.
Anyway, about an inch of snow on the trail all the way up to the treeline. Absolutely gorgeous day, fresh snow on the trees, and the quiet you only get with a blanket of fresh snow.
Above the treeline, the hiking was pleasant although the occasional patch of deeper snow made heavier going. Toward 13,000‘ the wind really started to pick up and there was a lot of blowing snow.
About 200‘ below the saddle, the wind started to get stronger and I could see spindrift billowing off the ridge. There was a gathering chill to the air and the snow clouds were starting to pile up to the west and north.
It was only 11am so being the adventurous and valiant sort, I turned around and bravely fled.
This turned out to be a brilliant idea, because by the time I got back to the TH it was snowing lumps and getting heavier.
The road to the TH is (was) in great shape, and inch or two of snow on top of the gravel, no icy spots to speak of.
A nice day out. I‘ll be back.

ps. sorry no pics, camera on the fritz.
