 Mt. Bierstadt 1st 14er

This is a very late trip report of our August climb of Mt. Bierstadt. This was my first 14er and first trip report. Two days earlier we tried and failed on Elbert, but we were sucessful on Bierstadt. Driving up to Guenella Pass from Georgetown was a long and tiring drive with the construction delays. We started our hike around 6:30.

Square Top Mountain(it doesn't look very square from here.)

The light created some cool shadows in this ravine.

The green tundra was a neat contrast to all the rock on Elbert 2 days ago.

The easy Class 2 near the summit made for a fun finish.
As we ascended the summit became envevolped in some low clouds that were harmless.

You get an idea of the cloud in this shot of the summit ridge. My dad and brother had made it up Elbert, but for my mom and I it was our first 14er. It was really awesome to stand on top of a 14er but the annoying clouds obscured the views After waiting a little bit the clouds dissappeared and we got the great views we had hoped for.

A view from the summit after the cloud. My favorite picture I've taken in Colorado with the blue sky, clouds, rocks, lakes, mountains and all the other great stuff in Colorado.

The great view to the north.

The tundra still had plenty of wildflowers.

The Sawtooth towered above this little snowfield.

Back to the Prius.
We had great weather the whole time and had a lot of fun and climbed a 14er. Mt. Bierstadt isn't the tallest but it sure is pretty easy for a first 14er. It felt way easy than Elbert.
14er + easy+ great views= fun and rewarding hike
