Add your trip report here...I sit here the day after, feeling the sting of treatment on my abraisions and experiencing a rather swollen knee. My journey began at 2 am in my 1992 Jeep Cherokee that I retired ,from every day commuting, to only accessing THs for my enjoyment.
The drive took 4 hours from my house in Silt to the upper TH lot of Mt Sneffels. I signed in and started hiking at 6 am on a tightly packed rock trail , It was alittle dark so I used my headlamp for awhile. I lost the trail a bit after the sign for Blue Lakes/Mt Sneffels and proceeded up the steep scree making my own route.(probably doesn't make a diference cause one must pick a path)
Once at the top of Col,I turned left and picked the wrong gulley heading up and had to retrace over to the correct this using some of my much needed energy.(help from fellow hiker got me on the right path). The climb up this gulley was using all fours---upon reaching the exit I had to compress my fat belly to sqeeze though the slot and form there to the summit was a breeze.
The summit of Mt Sneffels has a FANTASTIC VIEW 360 degrees. Once on summit climbers topped out from Blue Lakes side and there where many more from the standard route too.
The descent was slow and methodical for me. Again sqeezing myself though notch (assistance from climber below for th foot placement). The descent of the steep Col slope was a nightmare for this 315lb older man , thus the aforementioned abraisions. All in all Sneffels was worth the condition I'm in now here at this keyboard.

My friend and I summited from Blue Lakes at 10:30 on 9/6. We may be the party you mention. What a fantastic day to be on Sneffels. Not a cloud in the sky and views that seem to stretch forever. We returned to Blue Lakes trailhead via Blaine Basin. We heartily do not recommend this route. The long, unstable scree and talus to Blaine Base makes the standard route a pleasure by comparison.
