Quandary Peak, bragging rights, and a new GPS

Since Bill is having such a difficult time giving away the 4th GPS, I thought I would add my trip report and a little encouragement.

My husband and I were in CO in the beginning of August to visit family and spend some time in the mountains. My attempt of Longs Peak last year got me hooked and my husband agreed to climb a 14er with me. We decided Quandary would be a good choice.

The night before the climb, I was packing my gear and my husband and brother started to make fun of my new 14ers.com cap. I unflinchingly informed them that I planned to wear it proudly up Quandary so Bill Middlebrook would find me and give me a free GPS. They thought I was nuts! Wasn't my husband bowled over the next day as we were ascending the East Ridge and I was approached by a man that asked, "Is that a 14ers.com cap you are wearing?" I stupidly asked, "Are you Bill Middlebrook?" Duh... who else would it be. My husband and I laughed the rest of the climb to the summit. Our fellow climbers must've thought we were high... and I don't mean the altitude.

We enjoyed our day on the peak. It was a great climb, we met great people, and the views from the summit were awesome. My husband is now hooked.

We met up with Bill in Breckenridge later in the day to claim my new GPS.

Thanks again Bill. All of you climbers get out there and proudly wear your 14ers.com gear. You could win a free GPS. I hear Bill will be out there looking... Unlikelier things have happened!
