More on roller coaster hike

My partner and I set Sunday aside to hike Grizzly, Torreys and Grays via the Loveland pass/Contennial divide trail. Thus the timing of your report was perfect. We hit the trail at 6:25 and summitted Grizzly at 8:30. We summitted Torreys and 11:50. We saw no one on the way up. That was enough for me. And I knew I had a killer hike to get back to the car. We left Torreys at noon. We were on the tundra saddle between Torreys and Grizzly when the clouds started moving in. Not threatening, just enough to keep me motavated. We were back on Grizzly at 1:00 and back at the car by 2;00. Coming down Cupid we saw our first person of the day: a bow hunter. Not bad when the only person you see all day on a holiday weekend is a bow hunter. My parnter and I train year round and were looking for a challenge. We were not dissapointed. I‘m 51 and my parnter is 52. It was the hardest hike I‘ve ever done. Thanks again for the detailed report.

Thanks for the comments, guys. And congrats on Djr1957 for bagging Torreys via the roller coaster. It sure takes a lot of effort to go out AND back on this hike. Climbing back up Grizzly definitely took a bit more than I was expecting. It does feel great to summit a 14er and be the only one on the trail all day.

Your report rocks. We just did this route yesterday for my Husbands 33rd Birthday. It was very quiet and crowd free. We only went as far as Torrey's and then turned around as we had done Grays on the standard route a few weeks before. This was a huge workout and took us a bit longer as we lingered frequently and enjoyed the view. I am posting our report/pics later, hope they do justice to your awesome report! Cheers!

Drastic difference between your hike and the summit, solitude vs. the masses. Nice TR on a unique route
