 Quandary - East Ridge (Standard)

I apologize for the three year delay in adding this but I have promised my daughter, Reilly, that I would get it in. She had just turned 9 and Quandary was to be her first Fourteener. We were at the trailhead at 7:30 AM with a group including my sister and her 3 daughters along with my wife and our 2 daughters (5 and 9 year olds). Those of us aiming for the summit included my wife, Reilly and 2 of my nieces.

Those of us moving on to the summit quickly separated from the rest of the group and took a quick break as we escaped tree line. At this point Reilly is in great spirits and anxious to move on to the top. It would also be the first fourteener for two of my nieces, black jacket and blue shirt, while my wife and I have multiple Fourteener summits.

We kept moving and careful not to get distracted nor frightened away by the dangerous animals along the way!

Although she was getting tired as we neared the summit she kept her focus and kept moving forward. By this point my wife and youngest niece had left us and were probably already on the summit!

At 10:45 AM, 3 hours after we started, she made it to the top and we all enjoyed the beautiful views. What a neat experience to share a first fourteener summit with one of my kids!
