 First time 14er!!

Mt. Bierstadt

Elevation: 14,060'
Range: Front
County: Clear Creek

Difficulty: Class 2
Trailhead: Guanella Pass
Trailhead Elev.: 11,669 feet

My family and I made our first 14er on Tuesday. Had a great time but the weather drove us off early.

We were on the TH at 6:30 with a totally clear sky.

The creek was fun to cross. It was a chilly start as you can see frost still on the ground up ahead.

My wife made her first 14er with the kids too!

We made the summit at 10:30 but by that time we saw several clouds beginning to build all around so we only stayed on the summit for 15 minutes or so.

My 3 children: ages 9,11 and 11 did great for their first climb! I am so very proud of them. We met some very nice people on the mountain that were gracious enough to take our family picture on the summit. This climb will forever be in our memories.

On the way home the sleet really started to come down just outside the parking lot!

Hey guys! Looks like you are having quite the adventure! Sally and I think the kids are at a great age to experience great places like Colorado. I‘m sure they will cherish the memories their entire lives.
