 Longs with the boys

We started on the trail around 5AM, a little late nd the sun came up shortly after we got on the trail. Image Most of the route is relatively easy up to the keyhole but we added a little more difficulty by adding a good mile and a half on an accidental detour to Chasm Lake. Image Nice views though. Image Image After a little backtracking we reached the keyhole. Image The views from the backside were impressive. Image We really had to push my pops to get over a few of the more exposed moves as he is scared of heights, Image but overall I thought the narrows looked scarier in pictures then when you are actually there. Image Going up the trough was physically the hardest for me but we slowly made our way up, careful to avoid the young kids with little mountain etiquette and the rocks they sent flying down at us. Image In the end we made it with our hearts full and heads held high, literally. Image Image There were some scattered clouds and a little rain and thunder but overall we were lucky with the weather as we didn't summit till 2PM. Image I must say, descending the trough was a fun time and the little touch of rain actually made sliding down it seem a bit easier. After a 13.5 hour day we made it back to the car safely. Although the views on Longs were amazing, it was our shared struggle to the top that made it the memory of a lifetime.
