 Snowmass Mountain S Ridge

Almost a year ago I climbed Snowmass Mountain via the S ridge. This climb is by far my favorite to date. We left the Lead King Basin Trailhead at around 5am. Before sunrise we got our first glimpse of Snowmass by Geneva Lake.

Two hours into our hike we gained the first gully on the ridge to Snowmass. This gully was incredibly steep with lots of loose rock. It took me nearly two hours to gain the ridge.

After gaining the S ridge it was a scramble to the summit with many large loose boulders in the way.

Nearly five and half hours, I reached the summit. It was very rewarding to summit. This was by far the most technical climb I had ever done. I soaked in the views of Capital and the Bells before heading down.

We descended via the west slope and it was a slow go because of the very loose rock on the route and there were also a few hikers below us. We reached the car at around 3 and I was glad because it was I was dead tired from the climb.
