 A Belford Beauty

What an incredible morning. Not a cloud in the sky and a brilliant shining moon luring us over the trailhead bridge up through the pine and aspen forest into the narrow canyon. With each elevation gain new vistas opened exposing dramatic light and shadow plays throughout the Missouri Gulch expanse. Some reasonably inclined light rock stepping and modest switch-back work on the spine hosted visions of tiny piercing blue and yellow blossoms on carpets of lush green. And once on top, Belford gifts the hiker, who enjoys the journey as much as the destination, with one more very modest final ascent walk and spectacular mountain "neighborhood" views before summit capping.

Not a cloud in the sky and temps in the zone !! Nesting ptarmigans and a friendly marmot entertained. Negligable snow field near summit. I don't think this first timer could have had a better experience.

I did belford/Oxford the same day as you. I wonder if we crossed paths? Did you see the ptarmigans at the peaks? Congrats on getting to the top! It was an awesome day indeed!!

I think we were on our way down when we crossed. Left summit about 10:00. We saw Mama ptarmigan nesting with Papa keeping a watchful eye. Also had an overly friendly or hungry marmot continue to take a closer look at us. Cheers.

Just posted our photos.
