 Grays Peak North Slopes

Ascent of Greys Peak. Left parking lot at 6:30am and summited at 12:30pm. Wasn‘t sure if the road to the trailhead was good enough to drive, it wasn‘t. Maybe if you have a beastly 4X4 with some 33‘s and good sidehill skills you could make it up. We felt the stock Rubicon wouldn‘t make it. This adds another 3 miles or so to the hike. Weather was good except for gusty 30mph winds early in the day. Definately bring snowshoes for lower parts of the trail, we used MSR denalis without tails. You could also consider packing Yak Trax or something similar for some of the upper sections that are icy and lack the snow required for snowshoes. You can probably leave the ice axe at home. We had planned on bagging Torreys also, but the extra 3 miles coming up the road drained us enough that we 86‘ed that plan. Not a bad effort for the 1st fourteener of the year considering. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
