 Quandary - East Ridge

Well, I finally climbed Quandary. I have been wanting to climb it since I started climbing in August. The weather was beautiful, very sunny and bright. The wind was blowing about 20 mph on the summit but it was not too bad. I was dressed accordingly. The trail was pretty straight until about 12500. The snowpack made it hard at times to find the trail. Now is a great time to climb Quandary. It turns a relatively easy climb into a little more challenging. The snow adds a little mountaineering flair to a normally easy ascent. I did not use an axe or anything like that but I did wear Gaiters to the knees and Yax Trax on my boots. They helped in the traction up top. The last 700ft. or so is completely snow covered. The snow is hard however and was not to hard to walk on. Quandary is a great climb right now before the heavy winter snows begin to set in. I made the summit in 2 1/2 hours. I stayed on top for about 25 minutes and ate my lunch before returning down to the trailhead. I‘ll post pictures after they are developed.
