 Belford success, Oxford failed

Started hiking at 8pm on 7/8 got up about1.5 miles and set up camp in the dark, we were at about 10,500ft. Prettty steep switchbacks going up. Woke at 4:30am and out by 5:30am for the trail. The trail was absolutely beautiful filled with Columbines and wildflowers. Image The clouds in the valley were even more fascinating. Image Image It drizzled rain on us all morning until we reached 13,900 in which it turned to snow. There was a very easy trail all the way to the summit. Image There was a welcoming American flag at the top. Image We summitted at 8:45am. We looked over at Oxford in hopes of completing our mission, but it was in the clouds and it was really cold with no hope of the rain/snow mix letting up so we decided we'd come back another time and make it a backpacking trip to include Missouri as well. Fun trip with hubby- we realized on this trip we needed to purchase better gear. Sierra trading post now loves us!!!!
