Humboldt, West Ridge, South Colony Lakes

Drove a Touareg a far as felt prudent and hiked a 14,5 mile roundtrip to the summit. Took 7 hours which includes 1h 20min spent on the summit.

Noticed several stock suv‘s parked at the upper trailhead. The lowest to the ground being a Toyota Highlander. The road is apparently fairly driveable if you are a good offroader and either have skidplates or are not too concerned regarding what you might leave behind... Lifted Jeeps and trucks did not seem to have any difficulties at all.

Lower portion of the road (there are several areas that are substantially more demanding, generally they are short though)

Humboldt is a very pleasant mountain, great easy trail almost all the way finishing off with a little bit of rockhopping just before reaching the false summit.

Area below false summit:

Excellent opportunities for photography with the Crestones and the lakes right there. Humboldt might make a good first timers mountain.
