 La Plata - NW ridge

Met up with Sam (smason505 from the foum here) in Boulder around 7pm. It was raining a little bit already, but by the time we stopped for food and gas near I70, it was a downpour with a bunch of lightening. Despite the huge amounts of water on the road, we made it to Twin Peaks Trailhead sometime around 11:30pm and camped in a light drizzle. Got up around 5am, ate, packed up and headed up to the La Plata trailhead where we got started about 6.

Nice hike up to the summit in a light drizzle. Trail was very well maintained with very nice rockwork in parts. Once up to the boulder field near the top the trail was a little less obvious (I beleive because part of it was under a bit of snow,) but still not too hard to figure out how to get to the summit (up!) Made the summit around 9 in some light rain, no register on top, but we‘re fairly certain we were the first two people to summit.

Passed by a several groups of people on their way up as we returned to the trailhead, several of whom didn‘t seem too prepared for hiking in wet weather (bluejeans, etc.) but seemed to generally be having a good time. Got back to the car in roughly 2-2.5 hours and drove back to Boulder by about 2 in the afternoon. Mission accomplished!
