 Recloud Peak w/ a 9 year old

This was my daughter‘s 1st 14er at age 9. We‘re from Houston, Texas and we acclimated for about 1 week in Colorado before hiking up Redcloud. We had done a warm-up peak (13,500‘ near Independence Pass) a few days before.

See did really well. We basically followed the trail the whole way. There were a few snowfields we crossed. She had fun playing in the snow on the way down. It took us a bit under 8 hours roundtrip.

Redcloud seemed like a pretty and doable 14er for a 9 year old from Texas. Also, we did this hike on Father‘s Day!
