Shav & Tab, Blank Cabin TH

Got out of bed at 12am, put my stuff together and drove out to the trailhead. Last mile or so is a tad gnarly but not really a problem for a regular car. Wondered about some shuffling noises in the bush around the parking but decided to ignore it since nothing seemed to be jumping out looking for breakfast. Started walking about an hour and a half before sunup, the trail is excellent and easy to follow. Good trail almost all the way to the summits with the exception of the very last parts which are still not that hard, just a bunch of loose rock with various choices of routes up. Stayed on top of the ridge when heading down Shav toward Tab for some easy rockhopping until the trail across the saddle became visible again. Spent some time on the summits that by now started to get pretty populated and didn't head down until some black clouds started building. Got back to the car about 10 minutes after the rain started, 11.3 miles on the GPS, about 6.5h roundtrip if it had not been for the extended parking on top in addition to stopping for a long breakfast at sunup. The shuffling noises? Cows... The parking is also grazing grounds for a herd of friendly bovines. Watch out for the flops!
