I climbed Bierstadt Saturday 1/14/2006 via the standard route from Guanella Pass. The road from Georgetown was plowed and dry in most places with some hard packed snow toward the top. It should be no problem for a careful driver with a passenger car. Snowshoes were not needed and I carried mine the whole way. I suppose after a fresh snow they would be worth having across the willows/flats, otherwise leave them in the car. Iceaxe and crampons are similarly unnecessary.
