Did Sneffels via the Lavender Col on Memorial day. Road is open to a parking area at about 12,000. There was snow all the way up the peak. Conditions were not bad, but not great either. Winds were strong, gusts probably around 40 mph. Snow was barely frozen solid at the TH but was real firm after 13,000. A front was coming in and the snow never softened up high. Grappel on and off during the morning.

Left the car at about 6:45 am, summited around 9:00 and were back at the truck at 9:55. We skied from the top of Lavender Col. Could have skied the skiers left most of the Birthday Chutes from the summit, but would have wanted better conditions (less wind, softer snow) for that route. Most aspects were sun cupped and when we got below 13,000 it turned into mushy junk. No corn today, snow was either too damm hard or to damm soft.

Would recommend an early start for this route. It has been real warm in this area and we have had a lot of nights without a hard freeze. You can see a lot of wet slide activity. Would not recommend trying this route now if it did not freeze the night before.
