 Mt. Elbert - Northeast Ridge

The hike from the trailhead starts off heading up quickly and then levels off until the Mt. Elbert trail splits and goes right off the Colorado Trail. From here to the tree line, the trail is easy to find, but continues steady uphill. It is very easy to stay on the trail as it is well traveled. The further up the mountain the pitch increases until you reach the steepest section where you can see one of the false summits. You will have to work your way through some rocks and use your hands on some occasions. After getting through this section, it is just hiking up over the last false summit. Once over the last false summit, you will see the actual summit and a very easy hike from here.
