Evans/Spalding Winter Summit - West Ridge from Guannela - 1/06/06

Did this route on as well on January 6th and broke through to water in the lower gully using Evo Ascents. I only weigh 160 lbs!

To people thinking of doing this one in winter. If it seems you can get by without snowshoes from the parking lot because of wind scorn surrondings, I would take them anyway as the lower gully seems to generally hold deep snow and is filled with willows.

Here is a pic of some of the willows and the gully used to reach the upper west slopes:

I would also suggest doing Spalding too if you have time after Evans. Its not a long strole over there and then you can descend the true Scott Gomer Creek drainage. A little longer, but well worth it IMO. Watch out for a few terrain traps in the drainage. A 30 foot wall of snow with cornice flanking the creek had recently slid and filled the drainage with enough snow to bury you
