 Como Trippple

OK... so I began from the very... very bottom of the Como Road. Was around 7.5 miles to the Lake. Left the Van around 4:20 and didn’t make the lake until a bit after 7. Set up my hammock, purified some water, and ate a bit of dinner before setting my alarm for 4:30. Well 4:30 rolled around and it was COLD, so I snoozed for another hour, scarfed down a bagel and cream cheese I’d prepared the day before and started off towards Little Bear at 6am.

Navigating toward LB in the dark is actually really easy because the large notch you’re aiming for is illuminated in the pre-dawn glow. Didn’t take me much time at all to reach the saddle from close side of Lake Como. Light was coming so I kept up my pace toward the hourglass. Made the hourglass just after 7 and was on top of LB around 7:30. I was psyched for the Traverse so I didn’t take too much time at the top of LB.

Routefinding on this thing is right-easy, take the highway... always (except for Capt’n Biv). I accidentally traversed left around either difficulty 1 or 2 thinking it was captain Biv and it was the most exposed part of the whole thing by far. Just stay off top of that ridge and enjoy the Airspace. I made my way past tower one of tali’s before gaining tower 2 and the catwalks. This section was actually alright and not as spooky as I was afraid it might be. I cruised the rest and ended up on Blanca just after 9. An hour-thirty on that ridge isn’t too shabby. I hung out on Blanca for 15 minutes or so, saying what’s up to this guy I met near camp, before heading for Ellingwood. I stayed on the ridge crest all the way until a 40 ft cliff forced me to downclimb class 3 rock to regain the standard route. I made Ellingwood by 10:15 and basked on the summit for 15 minutes for so before charging down.

Made the first set of lakes around 11 and got back to my hammock around 11:45. I slipped back to sleep and took a good 2 hour nap before packing up and trudging down Como Road. Left the lake around 2 and got back to my Van just after 4. High quality 24 hours and my favorite ridge yet, just getting to be on the apex the whole time is a treat, enjoy it. Be Safe Y’all.
