First of all I apologize as my laptop randomly stopped working this morning and I’m posting a report on my phone. Anyways let’s get to it, this will be my first Trip Report so if you’d like to bash me and critique go for it :D. Friday of Labor Day weekend I had planned to camp near the Uncomp/Wetterhorn TH and summit Sunday morning. Unfortunately business meetings took place and I was home around 4:00. I had the itch to hike, as I’ve been taking several days off due to a sharp pain on the outside of my knee cap. I loaded the truck up with all the essentials, hit chik fil a on the way out and headed west. After dealing with traffic I realized I wouldn’t have time to pitch tent before nightfall in the Elks. I said screw it and made a decision to do my first night hike yet, realizing massive gets very busy I ditched plans to camp and took my F150 up the not so pleasant road to Half Moon TH and every single half decent camping spot from the main highway was taken, which I figured that late in the day. Left the TH at 9:00PM with bud Phizz and took a moment to honor the memorial for the fallen soldiers. Not long after we reached the avy debris but at this point there was a second short trail going around it (not far out of the way) and reconnecting. The one complaint I really have about this TH is the loose dirt. I easily summited Bross & Decalibron route and never once thought it was bad, but this was legit loose dirt and using every rock hold you can to ascent/descent for a period of time. The small talus routes are fun and the switchbacks aren’t too bad. Once we reached ridgeline around 11:00 the stars were in full swing. What a delight to be able to witness this peak as my first night hike, let alone having my pal Phizz tackle every type of Class 2 encounter with ease in the dark. I’m sorry for the short report but would be happy to answer any questions! Alec

I agree lmao! Unfortunately I wanted as many pics to remember as possible, usually not a selfie guy to be honest with you. Need to get a DSLR to get better low light pictures
It sounds like you did the SW ridge? I'm wondering if there was a lot of damage from avalanches? I repeated the SW ridge about a year ago and the trail was excellent and really solid.
