Hiked the Democrat/Cameron/Lincoln/Bross quad this morning (Sat) with my 12-yr. old son. We camped at Kite Lake last night. Absolutely gorgeous night with clear skies.

Alarm went off at 5 am but I decided to get more shut eye as we were up late watching the stars. I was stunned to wake up again at 6:30, so we didnt hit the trail till 7 am.

Beautiful day! Lots of people on the trail (over 100). Enjoyed the boulder climb up Democrat and the views from Lincoln. It was 67 degrees at the Lincoln summit!

Noticed a storm brewing in the distance from Brosss summit and decided to head down the west slope of Bross. Ugh! If you have a choice, head back to Cameron and down to Kite Lake and avoid west slope of Bross. It was very loose and not a lot of fun.

Returned to Kite Lake about 1:30 and broke up camp, leaving the site at 2 pm. Just as we headed out Kite Lake Rd. the thunderstorms began and we were hit with quite a hailstorm in Alma. I felt sorry for the dozens who were still on the trail. Keep an eye out for weather if you are doing this route -- there is no quick return to the trailhead.
