Arapaho Peaks Traverse Plus Old Baldy (Summer)

I can't believe I have never done this trip--it is just up the road from me here in Boulder. It was a perfect summer day and a gorgeous area. Here is a link to my full trip report with something like 50 pictures, with some good beta on the traverse:

Awesome report and incredible pictures! I‘m glad to see you were able to get your sunrise pictures; they turned out very well! It was very nice to meet you and have you along for the traverse. This was definitely a fun climb and is now one of my favorite scrambles. I really like your shot of Mt. Neva and Lake Dorothy (I was wondering what lake that was). Neva‘s North Ridge is on my shortlist. Your report is very well written and descriptive. I think it will be very helpful to anyone looking to do this route. Hope to cross paths again with you soon.

Incredible pictures. I think we were right behind you (group of 5) that morning, and had a great time. Love the traverse - one of favorite scrambles in all of CO.

One small beta note: the dirt gully you mention right below the summit block of N Arapaho can actually be entirely avoided by scrambling up a blocky ramp on the left. This option is no harder than easy 3rd class, with almost no exposure, and deposits you just above the gully into the short, blocky class 3 chimney above. Honestly, though, there are many different ways to do that traverse, and I look forward to discovering some new little variation every time

AlexeyD, thanks for the additional tip. I will check it out next time I am up there--and I will add it to my blog post. Wish, hilo21, Tornadoman (and alyssacait23)--thanks for your kind comments--and especially for leading the way across the traverse!

Fantastic Dan!!

Thanks for sharing. If nobody has already mentioned it, the peaks in the upper left of your Lake Dorothy shot are the northern sentinels of the Gore Range: right to left, Eagles Nest, Mount Powell, Peak C...
