 Mount Meeker Dragon Egg Couloir

Knowing this was going to be quiet the slog especially without snowshoes or a splitboard I headed for it anyway. I left Sterling, CO immediately after work at 3:30pm and got to the Sandbeach Lake TH at 7:00pm. After 5 and a half hours of headlamp navigating the Wild Basin and post holing in several spots I made it near the base of the south face at 12:30am. I tested out my new Outdoor Research Alpine Bivy Sack and slept fine.

My camp I made after arriving at 12:30am

I woke up at 6:30am and proceeded up the face. Due to the increase in heat the day before there was hardly any freeze overnight so my ice axes and crampons were not needed. I hiked to the left side of dragon egg rock then over the dragon egg ridge to see that the upper 2,oooft were avalanche'd out.

The slabs slid from just below the summit at about 13,600ft to just above dragon egg rock at about 12,000ft.

Due to the rapid rise in heat/conditions and being alone I decided to ride the dragon egg ridge a ways then the bottom of the couloir down 1,000ft

Retracing my foot steps all the way back made for a quicker return of about 4 hours instead of 5 1/2
