 Crossing Steep Ice Gullies

I climbed Mount Edwards with my buddy Jim. We were ready for a relaxed hike and great views. Given there was a little snow visible on our route we took axes but left our crampons behind.... MISTAKE! We ended up needing to cross about a half a dozen steep gullies that were covered with bullet proof ice. I end up having to chop my each foot step to cross the gullies... which made our class 2 hike pretty darn exciting. The views were well worth it.
