Another trip report... (who am I, Bergsteigen?)
The Plan: Head up the St Vrain Trail from the St Vrain Mtn TH in the Indian Peaks Wilderness to the St Vrain Mountain / Meadow Mountain saddle. Enter the RMNP and then hike north up Meadow Mountain, come back down to the saddle, and then head up the eastern slope of Saint Vrain Mountain. Both of these summits are on The Park border. I also believe that each of these summits are split down the middle and are located in both the RMNP and the IPW.
I thought it might be helpful to detail where snowshoes were necessary (see the arrows above).
Actually, other than these heads, I would only see 2 others the rest of the day.... and nobody above the trees for miles and miles...
the view from the saddle. A sunset from here must be incredible.
Obviously, you can see why this hill of talus gets overlooked... Look at it's neighbors! However, if you ever have the opportunity to see the views from this summit, you know why you won't want to come back down. The bird's eye view of the entire WILD BASIN is a perspective like no other...
I could stay here all day...
It was about here I broke west, off the trail and began the trek up St Vrain. The snow begins almost immediately after leaving the trail and the saddle. I put the snowshoes back on, but really only for traction and left them off on the way down.
The Indian Peaks... I still have yet to really set foot on that planet...
THE END - Thanks for reading all.

Dude, you read my mind, am thinking of hitting these two this Saturday morning. Great route/conditions beta! Sorry you can't join for Glacier Gorge this weekend.
When we moved to CO back in '07 we camped and hiked 5 consecutive weekends in RMNP. You can't lose up there. An out and back from Milner Pass later this summer is in the works if you are interested. Keep these coming...
Jeff - can you pencil me in for July, maybe? but don't forget about the bell cord! PS - there are trees in the IPW too. Oh and the 1st to comment again, maybe we are friends. thanks man
Brian - we'll get on the same game plan one of these weekends! I enjoyed both of these mtns. Have a good one out there and let me know how McHenry's goes!
D - a comment and a XXXXLike??!?!?... 7 months ago in the fall of 2012 it was cold and windy on HALLETT, and a 9 month burger ago we saw a YETI on the side of the road.... ROCKY 2 doesn't happen until the BIG D is present...
Bergsteigen - I'm still waiting for those ski lessons! Glad I could provide some beta. Oh and your TR's are awesome....ALL of them
Keri - your second comment of ALL TIME? HA - This is an Honor!
Kevin - Snowdrift, I'm on it! Keep me posted on Milner for sure. Anything from there... would be great to meet you.
Johnson is always trying to talk me into this hike. I guess I can see why now. I'll have to try to join you guys sometime in the Park; especially if BIG D goes. I have some of the 13ers there on my short list. Great report as usual.
