Lynch Creek approach to the Buffalos

After a last minute post to the forum to find someone with whom to go hiking I found myself with 5 great hikers on the Buffalo Peaks. We had a beautiful day and a great hike.

Brings back fond memories... Looks like you had a great group and a nice day! Had no idea that West Buffalo also went by the name of Marmot Peak...

I love that Otina and Caroline are still using my ”model pose” for their summit shots.

Geology of Buffalo Peaks...
10/23/2012 03:24
Ok, you got me to open one of my Geo books. The blocky rocks along the ridge that were so nifty, are made of Andesite (fine grained igneous rock composed mostly of feldspar). So the peaks are remnants of thick layers of andesite lava and volcanic ash.

Vicki - of course we still do the pose ;)

...panorama from the summits. The Buffaloes have been on my radar as well for years and I wish I could've joined you guys. Thanks for the beta!

I think Bill might have been striking the same pose on West Buffalo.

Vicki - we learn from the best and I see now Bill is learning from us!

Josh - I'm so glad we were able to get out and finally chat! Great TR and photos - I love the yoga!

I feel like a broken record saying this, but it truly was an awesome day with an awesome group!

I love the Buffalo Peak wilderness. I have always wanted to do the approx 21 mile loop that begins at the Rick Creek TH to the Northeast of the peaks and makes a full circle of the peaks. A great opportunity if someone wants to do a weekend backpack/climb with some camps to enjoy the wilderness even more. Thanks for the writeup and pictures.
