 1st and Most Memorable 14er

We first tried to climb Mt. Bierstadt shortly after we moved from Wisconsin to Colorado in March. This first time we tried to climb we made it about two-thirds of the way up. The wind was blowing around 60 mph and increasing as we ascended. We decided to turn around and try again another day.
We finally tried again today and began our hike this morning at 8:00 a.m. There was some fresh snow from the night before and the weather was perfect. Sunny and clear with hardly a breeze. The scenery was spectacular. The trail had just a bit of snow covering it on our way up to the top and was very easy to walk on. We got to the top and took in the breath-taking views for a couple minutes before another person came up to the summit. I asked him if he would take a picture of us and right then I proposed to the love of my life. It was the most perfect day climbing a 14er ever. I know it won't be our last, but it was definitely the most memorable.
