 Quandary via West Ridge

Thanks for all the great reports on this route - it helped in the planning. Hopefully this one adds another resource for anyone else interested in learning more about the area before heading up.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, however I will make it a point to focus on the gully crossing between the well documented "dirt gully wall" and the "crack wall". The few cairns lead directly to it, but we didn't feel it was safe at all to jump across, particularly with all the snow. In the report, you'll see we retreated to a point and climbed directly over the ridge to avoid it, which involved some class 4/class 5 moves with exposure. Just be aware if you are heading up there at this time of year - I would avoid it, it's a long way down should you slide into it. Without snow, piece of cake.

Glad to hear you guys made it up all right. I was one of the two headed up to Fletcher Mountain, it was indeed awesome. Great views, and got a lot of good scouting done for winter hikes and skis!

We were able to watch you two ascend all the way up Fletcher from our route up the ridge. Great to meet you on the way up.
