Long's Peak Cable Route Trip Report
Sept 8, 2012
CMC 14er Challenge Climb

Trip went like clockwork and almost exactly according to plan:
Depart TH: Just before 4AM.
At Chasm Lake trail Jct, ~3 mi: 5:40 AM
At Granite Pass, ~4.2 mi: 6:30 AM
At Boulder Field Tent sites, ~5+ mi: 7:20 AM
At base of the Cable Route, ~6 mi: 8:30 AM
At top of the Cable Route: ~10:15 AM
At Summit: ~11 AM
Depart base of the Cable Route, descent: ~1:30 PM
At TH: 4:40 PM
Round trip time: 12:40
We were slightly ahead of schedule all day which was great.

Weather was absolutely perfect.
Totally cloudless all day except for a
few small clouds late in the afternoon.
It was a bit breezy above timberline before sunrise but
later in the morning we wind died down and
it was almost calm at the summit.

The technical section had a lot of ice.
Irina did a great lead on this section.
Everyone did great on all the scrambling
up to the base of the climb and up to the summit.

Pics at:

Joke of the day: We could be climbing Sherman!
(No offense intended to those climbing Sherman!) R.I.P
Minds are like parachutes, they work best when open.

Anyone from your group lose one?

I have sent a msg to the rest of the team asking but I doubt it.
I probably would have heard about that.
There were at least 2 other teams on the cable route yesterday.
Thanks for asking.

Ranger Drew, take it to an Apple Store, they will get it back to its owner. Glad to see you are still getting out there!

we did not have any ice or snow on the route to deal with when we did it a month ago.
