 Mt. Bierstadt - Main Route

Woke up at 330am to take the wife up her first 14er. It took us close to an hour to pack then we hit the road.

After dodging 4 deer, one skunk and a raccoon on the way there (down 285) we arrived just after 530.

The trail was highly visible at the parking lot from all of the bobbing headlamps going up the trail and the roman candle going off at the top.

There was still a good amount of room in the parking lot, it was 43 degrees outside, but with a steady wind felt much colder.

The trail was in great shape and we were taking our time going up getting passed by most of the hikers, but having a great time. As we came out of the willows and started to rise up the hill we sat to eat breakfast and noticed the moose (2) that live in the willows swimming around in the lake.

We continued to the peak and reached it around 10am, checked out the amazing views and headed back down around 11am, I was amazed by the number of people still heading up at this point.

I passed by a group working for the forest service that were logging use of the trail and they said 200 people had already come down

Back at the car at 1pm and ready for the drive home. So proud of my baby for making her first 14er.

Just one tip, I saw many girls in running shorts and many kids without ear protection, I know this is an easy 14er, but you have to be ready for the weather. The wind chill was 18 degrees at the summit when we got there.
